Navigating relative invariance: Perspectives on corporate heritage identity and organizational heritage identity in an evolving nonprofit institution

The notion of relative invariance is highlighted as a foundational principle in how corporate heritage identity traits can remain the same, yet change meaning over time. Yet, little published regarding this manifests, or stewards manage it challenging situations. Utilizing case study one UK's oldest cancer charities, we highlight two groups protagonists - defenders and service innovators -shape We explore four core tensions that expose multifaceted complex nature identify specific integration compartmentalization strategies utilized to restore balance, allowing for continued meaningfulness identity. Overall, our advances invariance, providing more complete understanding stewards' affinity toward extending field into nonprofit sector.
